MortgageGPT is proud to announce that our founder Jen Qu has been recognised in the 2026 Elite Women list by NZ Adviser, celebrating outstanding female leaders shaping the future of New Zealand’s mortgage industry.
The annual list highlights professionals across brokerages, lenders, aggregators, and advisory firms who are driving growth, championing clients, and demonstrating strong leadership across the sector.
Jen joins a group of influential professionals across New Zealand who are helping shape the next generation of mortgage advice.
From Tianjin to New Zealand: A Journey Built on People
Jen’s story is one of courage, resilience, and connection.
About ten years ago, Jen arrived in New Zealand as a first-generation immigrant from Tianjin, China, looking for a different life experience rather than chasing a traditional career path. Like many newcomers, she arrived with curiosity, determination, and a willingness to build something meaningful in a new country.
Soon after settling in New Zealand, Jen began working as a financial adviser. Through this role, she discovered her passion for helping people navigate one of the most important decisions in their lives — purchasing a home.
Six years ago, Jen started her own advisory practice under QCFS (Qu Chen Financial Services), focusing on delivering highly personalised mortgage advice and long-term client relationships.
Through dedication to every client and a commitment to genuine personal care, Jen steadily built a large and loyal customer base entirely through referrals and word-of-mouth — without ever spending a dollar on advertising.
About a year ago, the business evolved and rebranded as MortgageGPT, reflecting the company’s growth and vision while building on more than a decade of experience in New Zealand’s mortgage industry.
The Meaning Behind MortgageGPT
Despite the name, the “GPT” in MortgageGPT does not refer to artificial intelligence.
For Jen, GPT stands for “Great People Together.”
The name reflects the core philosophy behind the business — bringing together great clients, advisers, partners, and lenders to achieve the best outcomes for homebuyers and property investors.
It is a reminder that the mortgage industry, at its heart, is about people, trust, and long-term relationships.
Recognition Across the Industry
The 2026 Elite Women were selected by NZ Adviser following nationwide nominations and an editorial review assessing achievements, leadership, and industry impact over the past 12 months.
According to the publication, this year’s Elite Women represent leaders who are redefining success in the mortgage profession through growth, client advocacy, and long-term leadership.
As Elyce Peters, founder and head mortgage adviser of The Mortgage Girls, shared in the report:
“She doesn’t just win personally; she creates pathways for others to succeed, too.”
Jen’s recognition highlights how authentic relationships, client-first advice, and community trust can build a thriving business.
